Memo about employment in Slovakia

The process of employment and obtaining a residence permit in Slovakia:

• ATTENTION! A residence permit in Slovakia (like a residence permit in any EU country) does not give the right to work and reside in another EU country. A residence permit gives the right to free movement within the EU for the purpose of tourism. Work or a long stay in another EU country threatens with the cancellation of a residence permit and deportation!
• A residence permit in Slovakia does not give any rights and benefits for opening visas and residence permits of other EU countries, the USA, the UAE, and other countries.
• Employers are interested in long-term employment and bear the costs on the Slovak side for obtaining a residence permit and other expenses. Therefore, employers reserve the right to cancel a residence permit in case of early dismissal of an employee without good reason, not going to work, violation of an employment contract, and in other similar cases.
• Staying in the EU with a canceled residence permit entails deportation, a ban on entering the EU in the future, visa denials and other problems with legalization abroad.
• An employer who has provided a package of documents for obtaining a short-term Slovak visa reserves the right to take actions to cancel the visa, deportation, etc., if the candidate used this visa for purposes other than employment with this employer and obtaining a residence permit in Slovakia.
• Also, the employer, in all such cases of obvious abuse by the candidate (misuse of the granted visas and residence permits), reserves the right to contact the relevant regulatory and law enforcement agencies, as well as enter the candidate’s data into the SIS (Schengen Information System) database to block entry and movement EU and visa denials.
